One of the positives I'll always take away from Lockdown was the fact that it gave me the chance to explore more of the UK. I was a bit nervous about flying, so me and my sister Lucy took the chance to visit places in the UK we either hadn't been for ages or had never been. We re-discovered the beauty of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset, spent time in Liverpool, which is now my new favourite city, became London tourists and went to Scotland for the first time.
The UK offers a diverse range of holiday destinations, from historic cities to stunning countryside and picturesque coastal towns. Here are my top 5 UK holiday destinations;
London: The capital city of the UK is a must-visit destination with its iconic landmarks such as the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, and the British Museum. Visitors can also enjoy world-class theater shows in the West End, explore vibrant neighborhoods like Camden and Notting Hill, and indulge in diverse culinary experiences.
Edinburgh: Known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and vibrant cultural scene, Edinburgh is a captivating destination. Highlights include the historic Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, and the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world's largest arts festival.
The Lake District: Renowned for its breathtaking scenery of lakes, mountains, and forests, the Lake District National Park offers countless opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, boating, and wildlife watching. Visitors can also explore charming towns and villages like Ambleside, Windermere, and Keswick.
Cornwall: Located in the southwestern tip of England, Cornwall boasts picturesque coastal landscapes, sandy beaches, and quaint fishing villages. Visitors can explore attractions such as the Eden Project, St. Michael's Mount, and the charming harbor town of St. Ives.
Scottish Highlands: For nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, the Scottish Highlands offer rugged beauty, dramatic landscapes, and a sense of wilderness. Highlights include the majestic Ben Nevis, Loch Ness, the Isle of Skye, and the scenic North Coast 500 route.
