My sister Lucy and I have started buying each other "memories" as presents. For Christmas last year, I bought Lucy tickets to go and see Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick in "Plaza Suite", you can read about it here. Lucy bought me a mystery trip.... she knows I love an adventure!
Apart from knowing that I had to block some days out of my diary, I didn't know where I was going until Christmas Eve, when she gave me this.
Last week it was time to set off, complete with our T.I.T.S travel plan. My dad used to put one of these together every time we went on holiday.
The main plan for the trip was to have lots of fun, explore, create memories and eat lots of nice food.
The first place we headed was Lympstone in Devon, Lucy had been there last year for work and fallen in love with it. Sometimes I think we've both watched too many Hallmark films, whenever we go somewhere like Lympstone, we always start talking about what it would be like to live somewhere like that and how if we did live there we would walk by the sea every day and probably meet the man of our dreams who was probably the local vet (see what I mean, too many Hallmark films!)
Lympstone is a truly lovely village and we sat by the sea having a coffee which we'd bought at a coffee shop that sold handmade cakes, as well as special dog ice cream (we would obviously be regulars with our dogs if we lived there!)
We actually spent the night just down the road at a Premier Inn in Exmouth, it was right on the sea front and the pub next door was doing "wine Wednesday", £7.99 a bottle, so we duly joined in the celebrations! Big thumbs up to Wine Wednesday, we might adopt that celebration now we are home!
The Premier Inn on the seafront is definitely worth checking out, it was clean, comfortable and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was also plenty of parking.
It was the perfect first stop.
As we did quite a lot on our mystery trip, I'm going to break each place down into a different blog, so click on the links to find out more.
And just a final note from me, I do know how lucky I am to be able to do things like this.
