Whilst on holiday, I decided to sample a cocktail or two.... well it's only polite and despite flirting with a Strawberry Daquiri and a Pina Colada, the Margarita remained my favourite. So here's my tips on how to make the best Margarita.
I prefer a classic recipe and this is what you'll need to get started:
Ingredients:
2 oz (60 ml) tequila
1 oz (30 ml) lime juice, freshly squeezed
1 oz (30 ml) triple sec or Cointreau
Ice cubes
Salt (optional, for rimming the glass)
Lime wedge, for garnish
Instructions:
If desired, rim the glass with salt: Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of salt.
Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill it while you prepare the margarita.
In a shaker, combine the tequila, lime juice, and triple sec.
Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker, then cover and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds to chill the mixture.
Strain the margarita into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
Garnish with a lime wedge on the rim of the glass.
Enjoy your classic margarita!
Variations:
For a fruity twist, add a splash of orange juice or a few muddled berries to the mix.
Experiment with different types of tequila for unique flavor profiles.
Adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more or less triple sec.
Try using flavored salts or sugars for rimming the glass for an extra pop of flavor.
Remember, the beauty of making cocktails is that you can tailor them to your personal preferences, so feel free to adjust the recipe to suit your taste!
What's your favourite type of margarita? Classic, fruity, or something else?
